Cool way to chat

Most of us while texting and messaging use short abbreviated forms of language.Those who heavily do such things woudl already know some short forms.

In one of the recent posts in a google blog google talked about reducing the number of letters so as to reduce pollution as each character transmitted is responsible for emission of 0.0000000000000000034 metric tons* of CO2.

It had even provided a talkback client to learn the abbreviated form of texting.

You can practise for shortening your messages here.If your friend tells an abbreviation that you can not understand then you can enter that in the client and it will provide you the full word.

Is ths thng rlly gonna work?

Anyway cntne txtng cul8tr

Hangover?

$Music begin$

“Hey, Rang de basanti! Hey,Rang de basanti!”

Somewhere down the corner, this very music seems to be heard in my brain.Slowly, the volume of that song picks up and it started to hit my ear drums as much hard as it can. Annoying!!!

It was the ringtone in my mobile and I was sleeping. It seemed to be dark outside and saw the clock, it read 6 o’ Clock.

I was wondering,”Gosh! Who the hell is callng me this early?”. I rushed to my mobile to pick the call. I picked it up after a long time.

Me: Hello! Who’s this?

Mom’s frd: Avi( that’s my name in my house) , Tell to your mom that I can’t come for walking today.

Me(with hard voice)Yes, I’ll..

Then, I was cursing her for calling me at 6. I once again saw the clock. it was 6.05 .

I was a bit annoyed abt the fact that missed my jogging and fottbal game today.I used to jogg and play some football with my frds regularly in the morning. But to do that, I’ve to start from my home as early as 5AM. I was afraid that my frds would be scolding me for not making it.

Then, I headed straight to the kitchen to see if I can get a chance to yell at my mom for she’s is the one who used to wake me up. Luckily for my mom, She wasn’t there. I figured out from the call, I got a little while earlier that she’d also go for a walk in the morning and as well as in the evening.

With no other option, I turned to my room to switch on my PC but it was already on. While all of this happening, It was still dark outside and said to myself” Man! sun really wakes up late in winter and so do I”.

*A thought appears* What if we go now even if it's too late for jogging? So, decided my mind to go for a jogging. Hurriedly, I was preparing myself to go out to jogg. I was all set to leave with my sneakers on. Though I was bit surprised to have no sense of chill air as it used to be.. when I was about to leave.

My mom came and now is my turn to scold her. I went straight to her and started yelling at her as if like hell. She wasn’t aware of what I’m talking about. Finally, she understood and said ” Hey, Retard! Look at the clock.. it’s 6.30 in the evening”.

“Oh! Man, it’s evening..I felt like I was completely boozed out and felt a total hangover“.

For a moment, I was just laughing at me.

Then, realised that I was working for some 3 days without sleep(even if i did, it didn’t last for an hour or so) I was even totally unaware if it was morning or evening or night.It really done me in. It was more like an hallucination of some kind and a total hangover. :D

IIT Education Online

...Missed out your IIT-JEE examination but you desperately want to get into IIT Classrooms. Here's a way to do it but it's rather different from actual classrooms. These are online classrooms. So, All this is about " IIT education online". Top Professors from IIT will be giving lectures and more importantly, it can accessed anytime and anywhere.

I've been a great fan of MIT's OCW .It has completely revolutionized lifes of many potentially talented young youths by exposing them to professors of MIT. In India, similar to MIT 's OCW, we have NPTEL. Though I should say it's more fun to sit back and watch video lectures anytime, you want...

All I wanted is to speak about Pointers

I always came across many dudes who find pointers, a little difficult part of C programming. So, Here's a short tutorial about pointers..

Salvation lies beneath:

The C language allows the programmer to ``peek and poke'' directly into memory locations. This gives great flexibility and power to the language, but it also one of the great hurdles that the beginner must overcome in using the language.

All variables in a program reside in memory; the statements

    float x;
x = 6.5;

request that the compiler reserve 4 bytes of memory (on a 32-bit computer) for the floating-point variable x, then put the ``value'' 6.5 in it. Sometimes we want to know where a variable resides in memory. The address (location in memory) of any variable is obtained by placing the operator ``&'' before its name. Therefore &ampx is the address of x. C allows us to go one stage further and define a variable, called a pointer, that contains the address of (i.e. ``points to'') other variables. For example:

    float x;
float* px;

x = 6.5;
px = &x;

defines px to be a pointer to objects of type float, and sets it equal to the address of x:
Pointer use for a variableThe content of the memory location referenced by a pointer is obtained using the ``*'' operator (this is called dereferencing the pointer). Thus, *px refers to the value of x.

C allows us to perform arithmetic operations using pointers, but beware that the ``unit'' in pointer arithmetic is the size (in bytes) of the object to which the pointer points. For example, if px is a pointer to a variable x of type float, then the expression px + 1 refers not to the next bit or byte in memory but to the location of the next float after x (4 bytes away on most workstations); if x were of type double, then px + 1 would refer to a location 8 bytes (the size of a double)away, and so on. Only if x is of type char will px + 1 actually refer to the next byte in memory.

Thus, in

    char* pc;
float* px;
float x;

x = 6.5;
px = &x;
pc = (char*) px;

(the (char*) in the last line is a ``cast'', which converts one data type to another), px and pc both point to the same location in memory--the address of x--but px + 1 and pc + 1 point to different memory locations.Looks easy huh? But As far I know, Security is a major concern for pointers..

Happy Hacking!!!
